Trelleborg shows development of components at COMPAMED 2023

Trelleborg Healthcare & Medical showcases the development and manufacture of components and solutions for the healthcare and medical industry at COMPAMED 2023 at stand F02 in hall 8a, Messe Dusseldorf, Germany, from 13-16 November.

Trelleborg

Visitors to the stand can learn how Trelleborg helps customers meet the stringent requirements and global standards of the healthcare and medical industry with innovative, safe and durable solutions. Trelleborg partners with customers, guiding them through the development process, providing support in specification of materials including customised extrusions, liquid silicone rubber (LSR) injection mouldings, and the production of parts using multicomponent processes.

Florance Veronelli, segment manager healthcare & medical Europe, says "Trelleborg customers benefit from our full expertise in material selection, product design and manufacturing capabilities for medical devices. At COMPAMED we will demonstrate how we partner with them to develop vital technologies from the very beginning, leveraging significant investment in research and development. Trelleborg’s eight competence centers worldwide and our Innovation Center in Plymouth, Minnesota, US, use innovative technologies to support product development and produce and test multiple design iterations within a very short period of time to expedite market readiness.

“At COMPAMED we will highlight two special capabilities. Our Integrated Solutions services provide medical device and combination product manufacturers with streamlined full-service capabilities from initial concept to finished product. We will also showcase the new BioPharmaPro family of innovative products, materials and services for fluid path single-use equipment to accelerate the advancement of life-changing therapies.”

The recently launched BioPharmaPro portfolio offers solutions from individual single-use components to complex assemblies and full biopharmaceutical systems manufactured from a wide portfolio of polymer materials meeting functionality, cleaning and sterilisation, and regulatory requirements. Equipment, processes and advanced manufacturing technology produce innovative and reliable precision components and assemblies created using extrusion, moulding, composites and other technologies.

Veronelli continues: "The biopharma market is changing rapidly. System suppliers are shifting their focus away from product engineering to the areas where they excel - process engineering and drug development. Trelleborg’s BioPharmaPro adds value for customers through our one-stop shop for complete integrated solutions, providing reliable contract manufacturing and long-term partnership to support with capacity in the development and manufacturing of mechanical systems.”

Trelleborg’s Integrated Solutions capabilities provide manufacturers with a full suite of services from prototyping to sterilisation management, streamlining their device development process and saving them valuable time and resources. Integrated Solutions covers everything from fully customisable solutions, a guarantee of maximum quality control, supply chain continuity and product lifecycle management.

Also featured at this year's COMPAMED are multi-lumen LSR tubing for a variety of critical applications including pacemakers and urological implants. Trelleborg's proprietary GeoTrans extrusion process enables the creation of an even greater variety of tubing geometries by changing the cross-section during extrusion to eliminate moulding and secondary bonding steps, providing a strong, hygienic design.

Trelleborg will also present combination products, where a medical device incorporates an Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API). Becoming increasingly important in medical treatment, combination products are applied or implanted directly to an affected site and offer numerous advantages over oral administration, injection or infusion. Benefits include the ability to provide very precise dosing and the reduction of side effects outside an affected site.
