Trelleborg showcases polymer solutions at Pharmapack

Trelleborg Healthcare & Medical showcases the development and manufacture of engineered polymer solutions for medical and pharmaceutical customers at Pharmapack 2024 at Paris Expo, Porte de Versailles, France, Stand A68 in Hall 7.2.

Trelleborg

Trelleborg will be on hand to demonstrate the latest in sealing and fluid-handling technology for pharmaceutical packaging and drug delivery applications. Visitors to the stand will experience how Trelleborg helps customers with durable and reliable solutions that meet the stringent requirements and global standards of medical industry.

Jean-Marie Gury, business development manager Healthcare & Medical Europe, says: “Starting from initial concepts through to deliverable products and beyond, Trelleborg partners with customers to guide them through the development process, providing support in specification of materials including application-specific tubing, liquid silicone rubber (LSR) or thermoplastic injection mouldings, and multi-component products.

"Trelleborg customers benefit from our full expertise in material selection, product design and manufacturing capabilities for components or assemblies for medical devices. In the fast-moving medical market Trelleborg Healthcare & Medical invests heavily in research and development, operating eight competence centers worldwide, including one in Stuttgart, Germany. Our Innovation Center in Plymouth, Minnesota, US, supports the development of medical and pharmaceutical components employing innovative technologies, expediting our customers’ time to market by producing and testing multiple design iterations within very short time periods."

Also featured at this year's Trelleborg stand are combination products, where a medical device incorporates an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API). Combination products are applied or implanted directly to an affected site and offer numerous advantages over oral administration, injection or infusion. With benefits including the ability to provide very precise dosing and the reduction of side effects outside an affected site, combination products are becoming an increasingly important option for drug delivery systems.

The process is ideal for production of anti-inflammatory implants or for the treatment of conditions including eye diseases and skin patches for pain relief. Trelleborg will present examples of such implants and showcase our expertise in the complete development, manufacture and assembly process of combination products, including a silicone matrix in combination with one or more APIs.

Trelleborg will also showcase its iCast LSR digital manufacturing process. Requiring no tool investment, iCast provides a cost-effective way to develop product variations or try out different design concepts before investing in serial production. Customers benefit from a reduction in concept to production time for prototypes from a typical four and a half months to a maximum of three weeks for the average part, helping manufacturers meet the pressures of rapidly moving markets that demand quicker new product introductions, improvements and advancements.
