The Syqe Inhaler
A company in Israel have created an inhaler manufactured by 3D printing for those who use medical marijuana. Oh, and it’s also Wi-Fi enabled.
Syqe Medical produced the metered-dose device which gives measured doses of the drug via Wi-Fi. The inhaler is able to connect to the smart phone or tablet app which allows both patients and doctors to administer the proper dosage in real time.
Perry Davidson, founder and CEO of Syqe Medical, say the invention is more convenient and offers great control. The results are apparently more rapid and more predictable than smoking or any other form of delivery.
“It has a precision comparable to an asthma inhaler,” Davidson said.
The pocket-sized inhaler has a circular cartridge filled with cannabis granules which are vaporised in the devise.
Davidson told The Wall Street Journal: “We are directly manipulating the human psyche in a very precise manner. A physician could prescribe a custom-tailored, individualized treatment for that patient, and not have a hit or a miss, but a very close hit on the accurate dosing that the patient required.”
Syqe Medical has caught the attention of the self-proclaimed ‘crowdfunding platform’ of OurCrowd. The Israel-based company has over 8,000 investors which is beneficial for Syqe as the company are looking for millions more to break into the global market.
“We see it as a challenge,’’ said Mr. Davidson. “If we can unlock it, we believe that we can finally bring cannabis as a mainstream drug and have physicians be comfortable using it.”
The inhaler will be available for home use later in the year.
