A family business based in Harrietsham has been named as one of the top 25 Kent companies who are set to change the way businesses and people in Kent live.

The company, Bedfont, specialises in the design and manufacture of breath and gas analysis monitors. Now the 40-year old company has been named as part of the Future List alongside other companies Pfizer and Quvium.

Bedfont has developed a range of breath analysis tools to help people across a range of conditions and lifestyles. The company’s Smokerlyzer is used in clinics to help people quit smoking. It monitors carbon monoxide (CO) and its latest iteration can be used to monitor CO from users’ smartphones.
Other products include a breath analysis device which can help detect gastrointestinal disorders such as lactose intolerance and IBS. By measuring levels of hydrogen and methane on a person’s breath the company have developed a non-invasive device to investigate gut function. The company’s NICE recommended Nobreath Feno monitor is used to help improve asthma management. The device evaluates airway inflammation and can determine the type of asthma and help differentiate between asthma and other respiratory conditions. It can also help determine the amount of medication a patient needs.
