MediSieve win healthcare start-up award for blood filtration device

The developers of a medical blood filtration device have won the CMS Healthcare Startup of the Year Award 2017.

MediSieve was announced as the winner at the Giant Health Event for its innovations in magnetic blood filtration.

The company has developed a blood filtration device that magnetically filters particles from the bloodstream. The device is still undergoing testing and research but the developers hope that it will be able to target the causes of specific diseases such as sepsis and improve treatment for malaria.

The award is part the Beanstalks competition, designed for start-up companies that are working towards advancements within the medical sector.

MediSieve will be offered a package of legal services worth up to £8,000 allowing the company to develop anything from new patents, commercial contracts and share schemes.

George Frodsham, founder and CEO MediSieve said: "It's an amazing achievement and we're all happy to have won the Beanstalks Competition Healthcare Startup of the Year award. Everyone has worked incredibly hard on our magnetic blood filtration device, and it's great to see all that work and the future applications being recognised. We're still working on ways to improve the device, to be able to broaden its applications and help to tackle some of the challenges that affect us all".

Amir Amraie from Giant Health Events said "our vision is to improve the health and well-being of people around the world, by promoting healthcare innovation and supporting health-tech entrepreneurs. And I believe with all and every one of you we were able to achieve this. This year we had over 100 health entrepreneurs from 18 countries applying and you are doing great work with MediSieve Limited."
