A med-tech expo with a difference is set to take place against the backdrop of the
Grand Départ International Business Festival on 3 July. A simulated cycling injury will showcase some of the region’s most advanced innovations in medical simulation and surgical technologies including new technologies for A&E, laparoscopic surgery and recovery scenarios.

National experts will come together in Leeds Metropolitan University’s new clinical suite for demonstrations of a select sample of technologies in an accessible manner and setting. Technical and industrial experts from award-winning firms will also be on-hand to share knowledge and illustrate the region’s capabilities in the delivery of innovative world-class health outcomes.

The session features interventions for combined injuries with a digital augmented reality introduction taking an injured professional cyclist through vital checks in A&E, into the clinical skills suite for a complex intubation, surgery and subsequent physiotherapy and rehabilitation.

The event will also feature Leeds Metropolitan University and Surgical Innovations signing a memorandum of understanding signalling their agreement to collaborate in the areas of research, development and educational delivery through the use of simulation.
