What MicroCare Medical will be displaying at MD&M West

Precision cleaning, coating and lubrication products manufacturer, MicroCare Medical, will be presenting a range of products during MD&M West next year.

The team will present innovative chemistries which aim to improve the manufacturing process of medical devices.

Duraglide Dry Lubricant will be exhibited during the show. This lubricant can be used on a variety of applications including catheters, cutting tools, staplers and hypo tubes, and has the capacity to lubricate assemblies that slide, pivot or twist.

“Duraglide Dry Lubricant offers unparalleled lubricity,” said David Ferguson, senior technical manager, MicroCare. “Using polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) particles applied in a dispersion fluid, the non-migrating and fast-drying fluid leaves a smooth, slippery and uniform coating on any surface. This makes it perfect for medical devices featuring moving, sliding, or rotating surfaces.”

He added: “Better lubrication leads to better patient outcomes and Duraglide Dry Lubricant is ISO 10993 certified for easy validation. It is not only versatile and compatible with most metals and plastics but can penetrate complex shapes. This improves performance of the finished device by reducing actuation forces up to 25%. Additionally, it is also hostile to bioburden and is compatible with sterilisation processes – important features within medical manufacturing.”

During MD&M West, MicroCare Medical will also be showcasing its line of carrier fluids which are used for the safe and effective deposition of silicone, PTFE lubricant and other pharmaceutical coatings onto medical devices.

Additionally, the new Opteon SF80 Specialty Fluid for use in vapor degreasers will be displayed. It is a high solvency, non-flammable and environmentally sustainable cleaning fluid with a low global warming potential (GWP).

Ferguson commented: “Sustainability should be a key driver when it comes to choosing cleaning solutions. It is important to understand the value of a simple, consistent and sustainable process. It must be flexible in that it can adapt to any future changes, whether it be regulatory, environmental or with specific cleaning requirements.

“Opteon SF80 Specialty Fluid is a long-term and sustainable answer to the difficult cleaning issues facing production engineers today. During MD&M we will take the opportunity to exhibit a range of products which not only work effectively, but also address long-term sustainability goals.”

MicroCare Medical will be on booth numbers 618 and 2342 during the MD&M West Expo in Anaheim, California from 11th-13th February 2020.
