At this year’s Medtec Europe key players within the medical device industry were brought together under one roof for three days.

The show offered visitors a chance to see what advancements are being made in the medical device sector and what topics are trending in the industry. Also provided were a range of experts discussing the market’s latest technology.

Specialty chemicals corporation Lubrizol showcased its new compounding capabilities for its Pellethane TPU and Isoplast products. The company’s new compounding offers colour matching and custom colours for brand recognition, safe identification, and aesthetic in medical device applications. The new offering complements the company’s portfolio of full service capabilities.

Chemical company Evonik showcased its patient friendly alternative to conventional dentures, VestaKeep Dental. The high-performance polymer is used to make inlays, bridges , crowns and implants.

Evonik claim the material has advantages over conventional dentures such as being more flexible, allergy-free and taste-neutral. The material also helps products made out of the PEEK products adjust to the body’s temperate quickly and deliver better results than replacement parts made from metal during x-rays.

Speaking about the product, Frank Claus, business manager in Evonik’s Medical Device & Systems market segment said: “Our material is stable and also as elastic as human bone.”

Manufacturer of laser marking and laser marking machines FOBA showcased the latest version of its marking software MarkUS. The software helps reduce change times and makes it easier for the user to set up and perform new jobs.

The company also presented its autofocus for the first time as part of MarkUS. Dr Faycal Benayad-Cherif, business manager vision & software spoke about it at the FOBA’s booth and also delivered a speech on the challenges and solutions for UDI marking at the Medtec Forum.

System provider of polymer components for medical technology and pharmacy Raumedic demonstrated how it is implementing customer ideas into products. The company presented itself with the motto ‘Think Small’ highlighting Raumedic’s trend towards minimally invasive interventions as a result of small-dimensioned hoses and mouldings.

Visitors to Raumedic’s booth could find out about how the company’s products range from thermoplastics and silicones to metal components and electronic components.
