Teknor Apex to Present Comprehensive Seminar on Phthalate Replacement in Medical PVC Compounds at MD&M West

In a seminar during the MD&M West show next month, Teknor Apex Company will provide systematic information for medical manufacturers facing the complex issues involving replacement of phthalate plasticizers in PVC compounds.

The presentation by Vinyl Division industry manager Peter M. Galland will take place from 10:30 a.m. to Noon am on Wednesday, February 12 in Room 201A of the Anaheim Convention Center, the site of MD&M West. There is no charge to attend but pre-registration is required at www.teknorapex.com/MD&MWest.

Mr. Galland will cover the full range of phthalate and non-phthalate plasticizers for PVC compounds in medical devices, along with certain non-PVC materials. His presentation will address key considerations for evaluating these alternatives, including chemical structure, toxicology, solubility, migration, crazing, sterilisation, mechanical properties, processing, design, economics, and current market penetration.

“Teknor Apex has prepared comprehensive data on plasticizer alternatives as a way to help device manufacturers make informed decisions in addressing marketplace issues concerning phthalates,” said Mr. Galland. “As a diversified producer of both plasticizers and medical-grade compounds, our company is prepared to work with designers and processors no matter which alternatives they select.”

The Vinyl and Thermoplastic Elastomer Divisions of Teknor Apex will exhibit at MD&M West in Booth 2532.
