Material & Design Solutions (MDS), a provider of high-performance components for a variety of sealing applications in high temperature, high pressure, and corrosive environments, announces the acquisition of the assets of APS Plastics and Manufacturing (Tomball, Texas).

APS Plastics is a full-service, custom plastic, metal, and composite component manufacturer, providing engineering solutions for complex, precision-machined parts for the oil and gas, aerospace, medical, food processing, and electronics industries. The privately-held company has been in business for 15 years, and has 10 employees.

MDS acquired the assets of APS for the company’s extensive machining capabilities. Assets include six CNC lathes and five CNC mills which will be utilized by MDS to machine Pektron PEEK, Texron PTFE, and other thermoplastics into finished components.

MDS provides high performance molded and machined thermoplastic components with advanced sealing solutions from materials that include Pektron PEEK, Texron PTFE, polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), Torlon PAI, Vespel PI, and other thermoplastic polymers, for a variety of critical services applications. MDS also provides PetrozFFKM, FKM, and TFE/P elastomer seals, and electrical connectors.

“MDS can now go from resin to finished components with the ability to perform turning and complex milling operations, allowing MDS to be even more competitive with pricing and shorter lead times on finished parts,” said Matt Jorgensen, General Manager, Machining Center for MDS.
