Winners of Pitch@Med-Tech Innovation Expo

For the second year running, a packed Introducing Health-Tech Stage witnessed budding start-ups compete to be crowned this year’s Pitch@Med-Tech Innovation Expo winner.

Organised alongside the NIHR, Innovate UK and SBRI, ten start-ups competed against one another as they sought to impress the judges.

This year’s winner was Neuronostics, who beat off fierce competition by showing their capability for revolutionising and diagnosing epilepsy, with a biomarker that reveals seizure risk from apparently normal brain data.

The competition featured innovations which provides longer and better quality of life to brain tumour patients, a provider remote cancer care, and innovative stents for safer surgical procedures.

Incredible Show Floor Feedback

Feedback from exhibitors on the show floor was extremely positive.

Andy Tibbs, Managing Director at Boddingtons Plastics said: “Our first day at the show was the best we’ve had in terms of number of enquiries. At any show. And we’re looking forward to coming back next year.”

Adam Farrow, Medical Devices Project Manager at JEB Technologies said: “We've had an exceptionally busy show, day one was manic at times! It was hard to keep up and we had to keep the stand permanently manned with three people, to help deal with queries. Lots of very useful connections and links made with individuals as well as companies we can partner up with for future development work.”

Matthew RichGeneral Manager at PolarSeal said: "It’s critical for us to be here, we weren't expecting to get this much out of the show, but already we’ve had floods of leads, some from people that we already knew, but even more people that we didn’t know before. Med-Tech Innovation Expo is really critical for the industry as it brings so many people together. For us, it’s critical that we’re here to be in front of our customers and potential customers, people get to see the name. The vibe of the show is great, excellent, we’re loving it. We cannot wait to be back for MedTech 2023, looking forward to it!"

Feedback from visitors was equally positive.

Will MorrisDesign Engineer at Haughton Design said: "It’s been fantastic to see the latest trends and innovations at the Med-Tech Innovation Expo at the The NEC, Birmingham this week.
