Medivators launches endoscopic flushing device

Medivators, a Cantel Medical company and medical device manufacturer with over thirty years in endoscopy technology, has launched the Jet Prep endoscopic flushing device, a novel irrigation and suction device that clears and removes debris and obstructions from the colon during a colonoscopy, resulting in improved visualization of the gastrointestinal tract and increased polyp detection.

"Colorectal cancer is the second most common cancer in western societies," said Don Byrne, president of Medivators endoscopy business group. "Suboptimal bowel preparation substantially decreases colonoscopy effectiveness and often requires an early follow-up examination. This small device can have an enormous impact on improving colon cancer detection and saving lives. Importantly, the Jet Prep device can reduce the cost of colonoscopy caused by poor preparation as it eliminates the need for repeat examinations."

Because polyp detection is vital to patient safety and survival, the Jet Prep device's site specific flushing was developed to improve visualisation for diagnosis and treatment. According to Medivators, a recent has shown that the rate of missed polyps or lesions, both in the right colon where detection has historically been more difficult and throughout the colon, is significantly reduced when the Jet Prep device has been used.

"We at Medivators are committed to helping endoscopy departments provide better patient outcomes as well as improve efficiency. The Jet Prep device is an important component of that mission," said Byrne.
