HydroAir Global launches Poly-Hexidine anti-microbial polymer technology

HydroAir Global, LLC has introduced Poly-Hexidine, a state-of-the-art bactericidal and virucidal polymer technology.

Poly-Hexidine is particularly well suited for extruded fiber-based products such as wound-care systems, nonwoven personal care wipe products, nonwoven barrier layer materials and personal protective equipment (PPE), as well as woven textile applications such as medical linens and sportswear.

A key benefit of Poly-Hexidine is that it can be run through standard production equipment for extruded fibers as well as spun bonded and melt-blown applications.

Poly-Hexidine technology is suitable for injection and blow-molded applications as well.

This antimicrobial polymeric material, Poly-Hexidine has been extensively tested by third party laboratories and demonstrated an efficacy performance beyond expectations.  This broad-spectrum polymeric material is bactericidal (gram positive and gram negative), fungicidal, sporicidal inclusive of c-difficile, and virucidal (enveloped and non-enveloped).  For most organisms, Poly-Hexidine shows 6-Log reductions in one minute or less.  Poly-Hexidine has been tested and shown effective against SARS-CoV-2.

The patented Poly-Hexidine polymer technology is a homogeneous blend at the molecular level of at least one thermoplastic polymer and a powerful, non-metallic antiseptic, chlorhexidine. Chlorhexidine has a long history of use in healthcare settings and will be familiar to clinical and infection prevention process committees.  This is not a chemical coating, and has been proven to not leach or wash out.

Hydroair Global has been issued multiple patents for fibrous antimicrobial materials for barrier layer products and fluid treatment applications, with additional patents pending.
