eg technology offers assistance with ventilator shortage

Cambridge-based eg technology is inviting any medical professionals, businesses, or consultancies working in the field of respiratory medical devices, to contact them to help with the ventilator shortage.

The company are particularly interested in those who are working with ventilators, and hope by collaborating with other organisations it will be able to speed up the transfer of its designs into manufacture in the UK.

This follows the call from the government for manufacturers to develop more ventilators as the country tries to tackle to the Coronavirus pandemic.

eg technology has a team of engineers with experience in designing medical devices and transferring them into manufacture across a network of supply partners.

A statement from the company said: “We are in the fortunate position of having skills that could help to mitigate the impact of this pandemic. We are therefore reaching out to government agencies and beyond to offer any support that we can give.

"The fastest and lowest risk approach to meeting the need for large numbers of ventilators is likely to be to start with an existing CE marked design and find ways to simplify it and roll out manufacturing to additional medical-device-capable suppliers. Being ISO 13485 compliant, we are well positioned to help tackle this challenge.

“Businesses across the world are part of an extended community, and we will need to support each other during these testing times. If we can help, please let us know.”
