Berry Plastics confirms medical sale

US plastics packaging firm, Berry Plastics, is set to acquire speciality materials producer Avintiv

With this acquisition Berry Plastics is aiming to create a market base outside of its native North America.

The deal will also extend Berry out of its primary packaging business and into the medical, hygiene and personal healthcare markets.

Although headquartered in Carolina, more than half of Avinitv’s sales come from the Europe, Middle East, Africa, South America and the Asia Pacific regions, with the business operating in 23 locations in 14 countries.

The company rebranded itself in June from its old name of PGI Specialty Materials.
