Albis adds Covestro products to its healthcare portfolio

Albis Plastic has expanded its healthcare product portfolio through the addition of Texin RxT TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer) types from Covestro

Texin RxT is suited to many fields of applications in medical technology, laboratory and diagnostics – such as the production of tubes, catheters, housing parts, soft-touch handles, as well as many other applications, according to Albis.

The material possesses the same mechanical properties as Desmopan products from Covestro.

Albis said that this material has tensile strength, abrasion resistance, elasticity and shock-absorbing properties. Its good resistance to hydrolysis and microbes, chemical resistance and transparence also make the product useful in the field of healthcare.

Texin RxT is available in several hardness levels (Shore A70 – D65) and does not contain any softeners.

The material also has assurance of a consistent formula as well as confirmations of food compatibility as per FDA and biocompatibility e.g. USP Class VI or ISO10993-1, as well as corresponding requirements of the European Pharmacopoeia (EP), according to Albis.
