Work and play at MD&M East

MD&M East opens this morning, June 9th 2015, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.

Event producer UBM Canon says it is welcoming visitors who are attending the largest advanced design and manufacturing event on the East Coast, where there will be hundreds of exhibitors showcasing their new products, technologies and services.

On the centre stage today there will be a comprehensive schedule of serious talks, such as, 10 Ways Innovation, Design, Demographics, and Global Trends will Affect Healthcare in 10 years; and How to Avoid Common Design Mistakes in Prototyping. However, interspersed between the serious content there will be presentations such as the 3D Materials Girl of NYC and a 3D printed drone.

Professor Pythagoras will be conducting an engineering trivia game, “Do you Science?” tomorrow and there will also be company presentations from Toxikon Corporation, Nelson Laboratories, CI Medical Technologies, Scissent, and CADD Edge on the show floor. At 4pm tomorrow there will be an announcement and ceremony for the winners of the Medica Design Excellence Award 2015, (MDEA) and John Abele, Boston Sceintific Cofounder, will be honoured with this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

Guided Innovation Tours will be lead by experts, across the three days, who will point out the latest technology and industry trends across the exposition hall. Today’s tour focuses on robotics, tomorrow’s tour will investigate 3D printing and digital health and Thursday’s tour will feature innovative suppliers.

There is a full slate of conference sessions happening throughout the event; 3-day MD&M East Conference, 3-Day HBA Global Conference, 2-Day Pharmapack North America Conference, 2-Day Integrated Quality Management Course, 1-Day Industrial Automation: Advancing the Smart Plan, 1-Day Innovations in 3D Printing Conference.

Eastman Chemical Company will also be turning one booth into a bating cage, where attendees will be invited to take a swing at a plastic mug, to see if they can break it.
