Micro moulding helps to meet the constant demands for smaller products and components within the medical sector, and since 1985 Accumold has been manufacturing extraordinarily small plastic parts that require extreme precision - typically measured in microns. The company produces small-sized parts with micro features from 5 cm to less than 1 mm and has specific expertise in insert moulding, two-shot moulding and cleanroom moulding using an array of materials including polyether ether ketone, liquid crystal polymer and most engineering thermoplastics.

What is unique about this organisation is that Accumold is vertically integrated. This means that under one roof Accumold is able to offer design and material assistance, micro tool fabrication, proprietary micro moulding services, cutting-edge metrology, assembly and automation. This enables the streamlining of the medical product development process for customers and ensures optimal timelines, cost and accuracy.

Accumold president Roger Hargens said: “Our over 30-year association with micro moulding and micro manufacturing really gives us the edge, and we are not only the most experienced micro moulder in the world, but also the largest.

“This affords our customers with the reassurance of working with a robust and secure company that can provide efficiencies that lead to affordable pricing, and also one that has the capacity and infrastructure to ramp up to full mass volume manufacture.”

Paul Runyan, vice president of sales, Accumold added: “At Accumold, we believe that cost-effective, timely, and innovative products can be manufactured when we work with customers in a truly collaborative manner, and we insist upon transparency at every stage of product development.

“We have a solutions-oriented focus that when coupled with our unparalleled expertise ensures that we can manufacture end-use medical devices and components others may say are impossible.

“We are proud to be working at the cutting-edge of medical innovation, and invite all visitors at MD&M West to come and see us, look at the parts that we have made, and we will discuss your specific applications and how Accumold can help realise your product development goals.”

Accumold will be on booth 2852 during MD&M West which is taking place in Anaheim Convention Center from 11th to 13th February 2020.
