UK polymer company joins Theresa May on China trade visit

The CEO of polymer nanoparticles manufacturer, Stream Bio, recently joined prime minister Theresa May alongside businesses on an international trade visit to China.

Stream Bio - a partner to the Centre for Process Innovation – was the only biotech organisation to be invited on the trip and attended alongside big names such as AstraZeneca, Jaguar Land Rover and Vaersarien. The three-day trip was aimed at building post-Brexit trade ties and exploring the business and investment opportunities between the UK and China.

Steam Bio attended the trip to demonstrate the benefits of the Catapult centres in transitioning innovative technology out of universities into commercially viable products. The company also help display the developments in medicine that are taking place at CPI and in the UK across the medical devices, pharmaceuticals and biologics sectors.

Stream Bio’s CEO, Andrew Chaloner, who attended the trip, said: “They [the Prime Minister and Liam Fox] were genuinely interested in the technology. They were surprised and pleased when I explained that we couldn’t have got to this stage without the support of European Regional Development Fund, the Centre for Process Innovation (CPI) and the Catapult system, for which, as a company, we are very grateful for.”
