Tekni-Plex’s business units to present acetal mandrel technology and custom tubing at BIOMEDevice Boston

Tekni-Plex’s business units Dunn Industries and Natvar will highlight acetal mandrel technology and custom tubing respectively at BIOMEDevice Boston.

Whist Dunn and Natvar are both global suppliers of tubing for medical devices, Tekni-Plex is a globally-integrated company which focusses on developing and manufacturing solutions for several industries including the medical market.

Dunn’s catheter cores are used by medical catheter manufacturers throughout the world. These catheters are used to retain critical lumen tolerances during the manufacturing of minimally invasive catheter shafts.

These mandrels can be easily removed after catheter shaft assembly due to their low friction and ultra-smooth surfaces. They are available in precise diameters from 0.020 to 0.250 inches with tolerances as low as +/- 0.0005 inches.

Dunn also manufactures custom medical tubing for diagnostic and interventional devices from a wide range of thermoplastics such as polyether block amides, thermoplastic polyurethanes, thermoplastic elastomers, polyamides and polyolefins.

Tubes are available with diameters as small as 0.008 inches (outer diameter) x 0.004-inches (inner diameter), and diameters as large as 0.480 inches. Configurations include single and multi-lumen, coextruded layers and stripes, and longitudinal wire or fibre reinforced.

Natvar’s new silicone tubing capability range features an inside diameter of 0.2-25 mm (0.0079-0.984 inches), with wall thicknesses ranging from 0.10-3.0 mm (0.0039-0.118 inches), and tolerances as low as +/- 0.03 mm (0.001 inch).

Natvar’s recently expanded range of single-lumen silicone tubing is intended to be used within medical pump applications, such as peristaltic and patient-controlled analgesia pumps.

The BIOMEDevice Boston event will take place from May 15th to May 16th at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center later this year. Tekni-Plex’s business units will be on booth 460 at the event.
