Sonoco announces additional services following acquisition

Manufacturer, Sonoco, is now able to offer a range of cleanroom manufactured thermoformed and injection moulded packaging and devices to the pharmaceutical and medical sectors following the acquisition of TEQ.

TEQ, a designer and manufacturer of thermoformed plastic packaging, delivers innovative and sustainable design, engineering and manufacturing solutions to the medical and commercial markets for thermoformed packages and specialty products.

TEQ’s facilities operate class 7and 8 cleanrooms across locations in the United States and Europe, which all offer in-house design and tooling services.

Whereas Sonoco Plastics BV - based near Rotterdam, Netherlands produces millions of injection moulded parts with high optical properties for use in diagnostic and clinical chemistry instruments.

Sonoco’s injection moulding facility has a cleanroom that provides advanced capabilities for packaging highly sensitive products. It also allows them to offer packaging solutions for class 3 medical devices such as bio-absorbable orthopaedic implants, devices for brain surgery, and innovative biopsy instruments.

Sonoco develops and produces customised precision plastic medical devices from large and small production runs as well as complete assemblies. More than 20 different thermoplastics are processed, and product development, engineering, manufacturing, printing, welding, assembly and packaging, are all located under one roof.
