Raumedic finds a new home stateside

Plastic medical components group Raumedic has opened the doors of its new US headquarters in North Carolina

The decision to open new headquarters in Mills River, North Carolina, was made at the end of 2014. Raumedic broke ground in March of 2015, and employees have now moved into the new building.

A two-story production and administration building with a total area of 5,600 m² serves as a production and development center for customer-specific polymer components and systems, including 1,200 m² of ISO class 7 cleanroom production.

Production began in January 2016 with 56 employees. Specialists in the fields of engineering, research and development, clean room production, quality management, logistics, marketing and sales, as well as management have reportedly settled into their new workplace, and the number of new employees is slated to increase in the coming months.

CEO Martin Bayer said: “This is an important step for Raumedic. We will now offer our customers the same quality and service they have come to expect from us as a development partner and system supplier at the Mills River location in the USA.”

Technologies planned for the plant include multi-component injection moulding with hard-hard and hard-soft connections, micro injection moulding, insert moulding, fully automated assembly systemsa and micro.

Until now, medical products manufactured in Germany were sold in the USA by Raumedic Inc. Rudi Gall, managing director, Raumedic Inc. said: “With our new development and production center, we are able to combine the strengths of both German and American engineering. The advantages are obvious: short routes and a more comprehensive as well as timely service for our North American customers.”

Raumedic has invested $11 million in the construction of the modern building. A total investment of approximately $27 million will be reached by 2022, according to the firm.
