Polymer fusion technology offers protection against HAIs

Polyfuze Graphics, a global manufacturer of polymer fusion technology products for safety labelling and graphics, has announced the introduction of its new proprietary line of polymer fusion products with antimicrobial blocking agents.

This new product line is designed to exceed the rigid labelling standards of the medical, reusable packaging, and health service industries.

The technology works as Polyfuze labels have proprietary antimicrobial additives which unite permanently with the polymer substrates of critical products like sharps containers, biohazard waste containers, medical beds, medical carts, and hospital laundry carts, to create seamless, permanently integrated labels with antimicrobial properties at the surface.

This process aims to eliminate any sanitary and quality issues which are associated with other labelling methods that use surface applications where label edges, layers and adhesives create shelters where microorganisms can thrive and grow despite cleaning with sprays and cleaners.

According to the Center for Disease Control: “The prevention and reduction of healthcare associated infections is a top priority for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).”

Matthew Stevenson, Polyfuze president and CEO stated: “The cost of healthcare associated infections range between $28 billion to $45 billion every year. By preventing just one with the combination of these technologies, Polyfuze can offer its contribution to the protection of human life and help reduce the costs associated with healthcare associated infections.”
