Owen Mumford expands capabilities in Asia

Medical device manufacturer Owen Mumford has announced the opening of its new facility in Malaysia, designed to support and grow its presence in the Asia Pacific region.

The company has been operating in the South of Malaysia since 2015, strengthening its operations at the site to include packaging, manufacturing and logistics services to customers in the region.

The expansion has been warranted with the appointment of Joerg Daehn as regional managing director. He said: “We are very proud of our new Malaysian operation. It is a great opportunity for Owen Mumford to continue growing its business in the Asia Pacific region which will ensure we continue to provide a real difference to our customers with excellent products and a great service.”

The official opening of the company’s Malaysian Regional Hub took place on 30 March. To mark the occasion chief minister of Johor Malaysia, Mr Haji Suhairi Bin Haji Hashim, CEO of Johor Biotechnology and Biodiversity Corporation and the British high commissioner to Malaysia Vicky Treadnell attended the opening.

Jarl Severn, managing director at Owen Mumford stated, “This is the first time in 65 years that Owen Mumford has established manufacturing outside of the UK and we are proud to become a significant local employer of the local skilled work force in Johor generating diverse opportunities across a broad range of jobs. This is a great opportunity for Owen Mumford to engage with the community and assist with growth in the economy. We look forward to taking advantage of the logistical opportunities that our new Regional Hub in Malaysia will provide us for Owen Mumford to become the preferred and leading medical device supplier in the region.”
