New video series aims to ‘inspire the next generation of global health leaders’

CoviDB, the Covid-19 resource database and platform created by non-profit organisation TeachAids, has partnered with three global health and education institutions.

The organisations include the Stanford Program on International and Cross-Cultural Education (SPICE), Stanford’s Center for Innovation in Global Health (CIGH) and the Institute for Global Health Sciences (IGHS) at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Together, the companies aim to develop and distribute Covid-19 content, programming, and study materials for people all around the world.

CoviDB's first content initiative, the CoviDB Speaker Series, will be coupled with special teacher guides developed by SPICE. Gary Mukai, the director of SPICE, commented: “At a time when high-quality online education is needed most, we are proud to partner with TeachAids, a global health education leader with a proven track record for success with whom we have collaborated with for the past ten years. Through our distribution networks, this content will reach more than 10,000 schools in every major school district in the U.S., as well as international schools throughout the world.”

Stanford’s CIGH shares knowledge, equips leaders, and builds teams to address urgent global health challenges and achieve global health equity. Dr. Michele Barry, senior associate dean of global health at Stanford and the director of CIGH, will serve as a special advisor to the CoviDB Video Series, and CIGH will play a key role in distributing the content through their global network. She said: “Our mission to inspire the next generation of global health leaders is especially critical during this Covid-19 pandemic.

“We are honoured to partner with TeachAids to produce and expand the reach of the CoviDB content throughout our global health community.”

Dr. George Rutherford, professor of epidemiology and head of the division of infectious disease and global epidemiology at UCSF, added: “Ensuring that accurate information reaches communities worldwide in a timely fashion is of the utmost importance during a pandemic. We are excited to partner on this critical education project with TeachAids.”

Dr. Piya Sorcar, founder and CEO of TeachAids, concluded: “The CoviDB initiative brings together world-class experts working on addressing different aspects of Covid-19. From education to medicine, technology innovation to health policy, this video series will provide answers to some of the public’s most pressing questions.

“We are proud to collaborate with passionate and dedicated global health and education experts leading the way to help us better understand disease prevention and containment.”
