Natvar talks silicone medical tubing at MD&M East

Provider of medical tubing solutions, Natvar, a Tekni-Plex business, has exhibited its latest products at MD&M East this week.

At the show, the company displayed its recently launched microextrusion and silicone tubing solutions.

Microextrusion tubing has been developed in recent years to service a wide variety of demanding neurovascular interventional therapies and surgical applications. Natvar’s microextrusion medical tubing can be made from cost-effective thermoplastics and other highly-engineered materials. The tubing can consistently hold tight tolerances, making it an ideal alternative to more expensive materials such as glass and fluoropolymers.

Natvar’s technical expertise enables it to microextrude monolayer, coextruded, multi-lumen tubing or profiles in a variety of thermoplastic (PVC, urethanes, TPEs) materials and wall thicknesses ranging from .003 to .005 inches. It can be coextruded in up to four layers.

The company also manufactures high-precision medical silicone extrusion tubing, typically used for catheters, feeding tubes, drug delivery and peristaltic pump applications. Natvar’s latest investment in expanded silicone extrusion capacity in China helps provide a one-stop global solution for complex medical applications and supports the growing need for biological compatibility for implantable medical devices.

Dunn Industries, another Tekni-PLex business is also on the booth. Dunn manufactures medical tubing for a wide variety of applications and the company’s products include single and multi-lumen, coextruded, striped or braided tubing.
