Union Plastic announces acquisition of APE Medical

On 31 December 2021, the Omerin Group signed, through its subsidiary Union Plastic, the acquisition of 100% equity stake of APE Medical (Avenir Performance Européenne Medical), whose head office is based in Château Landon, Seine et Marne (77).

APE Medical is a high-tech company in the healthcare plastics sector founded in 1989, specialising entirely in the study and production of medical devices for the pharmaceutical, diagnostic, and veterinary markets.

The company has a production area of 2000 m², including 250 m² of ISO7 cleanroom and a quality assurance system based on ISO 13485-according to Good Manufacturing Practices; with CE class Is marking and FDA approvals. Perfect management of its industrial processes has been the key to its success.

As recognised player in the plastic medical devices market for more than 30 years, APE Medical has become a strategic supplier of pharmaceutical and industrial diagnostic laboratories through the quality of the technical solutions provided, its potential for innovation, and the sustainability of the commercial relationships developed.

Human health

APE Medical has developed a full range of devices for drug transfer and dosing, including the Vial Adapter, now registered to the FDA and available in 13 and 20mm diameters, with or without filter.

In vitro diagnostics consumables

For more than 25 years, APE Medical has been designing and producing analysis devices for optical diagnostic consumables based on highly specific know-how.

Medical

APE Medical produces the Snip Guard safety devices for removing needles from insulin injection pens. This patented APE Medical product is of interest to the hospital market.

On 1st January 2022, APE Medical became a subsidiary of Union Plastic. Its products with a strong growth potential fits into the range offered by Union Plastic.

The integration plan for this new group unit is now launched: investments to cover future developments and sales and marketing actions that will lead to a new Union Plastic catalogue in 2022.

After the acquisition in 2020 of Prince Medical, this operation strengthens the Omerin Group's Healthcare division, which now has six production sites and 600 employees. All of this know-how enables the group to cover a complete set of skills for pharmaceutical and industrial laboratories of medical devices: from cleanroom plastics processing (plastic injection, air injection, extrusion), to customisation (automatic or manual assembly, offset printing and laser etching), to final packaging (blister pack, flowpack, case), to complete control of sterilisation (EtO (Ethylene Oxide) internally or Gamma Radiation externally with class Is marking).
