Pyramid Plastics' new equipment investment set to reduce manufacturing costs

Pyramid Plastics, a Rockford, Illinois, based custom injection moulding company, will invest $2 million on equipment expansion through 2022. This investment will be laid out as a three-phase approach that includes the purchase of new injection moulding presses, auxiliary equipment and an overhead crane.

Pyramid Plastics a division of Pyramid Molding Group (PMG) has been proliferating with growth plans over the past 3 years — since Andrew Peterson took over as COO of the business.

Industrial engineer, Kaivalya Shah, explained Pyramid Plastics’ expansion will increase the manufacturing square footage by an additional 12%, thereby accelerating the company’s momentum towards growth.

Rounding out phase one is the installation of three brand new, top-of-the-line LS Mtron ONE series presses totaling in excess of 2500 tonnage by the end of the year. Phases two and three are on track to be completed by the end of 2022.

“Expanding is exciting, but takes vision and foresight especially because of the increased lead times to acquire new machinery,” said COO Andrew Peterson. “PMG has always been on the cutting edge of automation and technology. Staying true to form, we will maximise our efficiency and reduce manufacturing costs with this investment at our Pyramid Plastics location.
