Guardtech going for gold at four awards evenings in four months

The Guardtech Group are set to cap off another year with five possible award successes in the final few months of 2022.

An exciting period for the Suffolk-based controlled environment construction company kicks off in September when they go up for the Production Innovation of the Year award with CleanCube Mobile Cleanrooms at the London Construction Awards at the Leonardo Royal London Tower Bridge hotel.

In October, the Group are finalists in two categories for the 2022 SME Cambridgeshire Business Awards– Best Enterprising Business and Business of the Year less than 50 Employees.

On the following day, Guardtech are up for the West Suffolk Award for Innovation at the Bury Free Press Awards at The Apex in Bury St Edmunds.

Guardtech will also be in the mix for a national SME Business Award at a glamorous event at the iconic Wembley Stadium in December, having won the delayed 2021 SME Cambridgeshire Business Award for Business Innovation with their CleanCube PCR COVID testing labs earlier this year.

That was the first of two awards Guardtech already received this year, having also won the Federation of Small Businesses (East of England) Award for Business & Product Innovation.

Guardtech director Ray Wheeler, who collected the FSB Award alongside his son, commercial cirector Mark Wheeler, is set to attend the London Construction Awards this month. “It was a real honour for us to win the FSB and SME Cambridgeshire awards with CleanCube,” he said. “The impact the product had, both in supporting the fight against COVID-19 and helping us to grow our business, has been far beyond any expectations we may have had.

“The whole team really pulled together to design these amazing, innovative portable cleanrooms and laboratories and to see them have such a positive impact is testament to my son Mark, our operations director Conor and all the Guardtech Group staff who supported them.

“We’re really looking forward to the two events in London, as well as the two on home soil.”

Guardtech have provided more than 40 portable laboratories at sites all over the UK and beyond to support vital PCR testing to detect strains of coronavirus in DNA, including all the biggest UK airports, major TV and film production studios and elite-level sport.

There are six base model CleanCubes – the 20ft Mini, 40ft Midi and double 40ft Maxi containers, the Mobi and Mobi+ van conversions and the Multi modular buildings option.

Mark Wheeler, who was highly influential in the birth of CleanCube, is full of pride for the way the brand has developed, becoming a business in its own right as part of the newly formed Guardtech Group of controlled environment construction companies.

“The story of CleanCube, as a solution to help the fight against COVID-19, is something we’re immensely proud of,” Wheeler added, “and the future of the business is sure to be a bright one.

“We’ve introduced three new standard models – the Pharma, Bio and Equip – to improve our clients’ procurement experience and help them to get the portable controlled environment that best suits their needs.

“I’d like to echo Ray’s words in praising our amazing team for all their efforts, not just in regards to CleanCube, but in general. It’s an exciting time at Guardtech and our continued success is down to having a committed, diligent and talented team of creative, adaptable problem-solvers who overcome challenges with a positive ‘can-do spirit’ that is unique to our business.”
