Medical device expert to speak at event to stimulate UK manufacturing

Expert in micro manufacturing, medical devices and the pharma sector confirmed as keynote speaker at inaugural event.

A global medical device expert will present the revolution in product miniaturisation within the medical sector, as part of an international business engagement programme being pioneered by the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan).

Donna Bibber, ceo of US-based Micro Engineering Solutions, is travelling from Boston, Massachusetts to host the inaugural event and provide an insight into the critical nature of the development, with a view to stimulate UK manufacturing.

As keynote speaker, she will advise delegates on the innovation opportunities that exist through micro manufacturing and miniaturisation, as well as how to encourage new product development and secure increased market share.

Voted one of the 100 notable people in medical devices, Bibber is the first of a series of international specialists making their way to Lancashire as part of the programme of events running until the end of 2015.

Each event will focus on a particular area of technological development and innovation that has the power to revolutionise the way in which manufacturing businesses grow.

Experts will present how businesses should approach the relevant area, adopt it in their business for maximum benefit, and will also discuss future developments that businesses need to be aware of to remain competitive.

Peter Leather at UCLan Innovation said: “UCLan has a deserved reputation as a promoter of initiatives that benefit UK manufacturing. We have vast expertise in the area of new technology and innovation, and this will be enhanced through this series of events by engaging globally respected experts on behalf of attendees.

“Some of the experts attending these events command huge fees for presentations worldwide, but we have secured attendees free access to them. These really are one-off opportunities to plug into information and expertise of unrivalled quality.”

The day will begin with Bibber’s presentation, followed by the opportunity for group question and answers, as well as further opportunity for one-to-one consultations.

Businesses will also be able to discuss the potential funding opportunities available from UCLan to support new business and product development initiatives.

The free event is taking place at the University in Preston, Lancashire on September 29. For more information or to book your place, visit https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/precision-and-micro-manufacturing-commercial-realities-trends-for-medical-and-pharma-oems-tickets-11977257299
