Medica offering over 5,000 exhibitors in November

At Medica 2016 over 5,000 exhibitors from around 70 countries will be presenting themselves as enthusiastic innovation partners offering solutions for outpatients and inpatient care.

Visitors to the trade fair will be able to see where the direction of the digital healthcare sector is headed. Lectures and presentations held at the Medica Connected Healthcare Forum will give visitors the chance to learn about current developments in digital health, particularly around its use in diabetes.

The event, held between November 14 – 17 will feature a range of topics and exhibitions which detail the scope of the industry. Things such as the wearables and smartphones market, in combination with special health apps are proving indispensable of being integrated into healthcare.

Medical technology will be displayed through innovations related to surgical procedures. More so, the integrated approach between data and surgical procedures is in demand. In relation, operating systems are seeing 3D systems being incorporated into operating theatres.

Regarding artificial intelligence, Europe’s largest application-oriented research organisation, Frauenhofer-Gesellschaft will present a robot which has ‘learned’ a high level of sensitivity and is therefore adapted to place biopsy needles with a high level of precision.

The Medica Econ Forum will discuss the opportunities and consequences of healthcare digitisation. The forum has been established as a platform for health policy dialogue. The forum will be opened by federal minister of health Hermann Gröhe and followed by blogger Sascha Lobo and Dr Jens Baas, chief executive officer of German statutory health insurance company, TK.

Also include at the trade show will be the 39th German Hospital Conference, a leading event for the management of German clinics. The international DiMiMED conference will be aimed at specialists from the field of disaster and military medicine and the Media Physio Conference will be forming a link on the topics of the specialist trade fair.

Sextuple Paralympic champion Andrea Eskau is expected to attend the Medica Medicine & Sports Conference which discusses the use of applications in close proximity to the body and wearables for monitoring vital signs among other items.  

Each day of the four conferences will be themed, starting off the “New operative techniques during surgery”.

In parallel to Medica 2016, Compamed will be taking place for the 25th time with approximately, 800 exhibitors. Together, both events occupy the entire Düsseldorf trade fair complex. Last year, a total of 130,000 specialists from around 120 nations attended.
