Manufacturer ships over 100 ventilators to Italy in 24 hours

Dräger, a company who makes breathing and protection equipment, has experienced a significant increase in demand worldwide for ventilators, corresponding accessories, and personal protective equipment.

Stefan Dräger, chairman of the executive board of Drägerwerk Verwaltungs, commented: "Our goal is to maintain business operations with the purpose to fulfil our duty to provide our technology for life to as many as needed. This motivates us to give our best every day, even in these difficult times.”

In order to cope with the high demand for products as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, the organisation has already significantly expanded its production capacities in recent weeks. The production facilities for respiratory masks in Sweden and South Africa are working at full capacity and are running around the clock. Additionally, Dräger are currently producing almost twice as many ventilators compared to before, however, the company are working flat out to expand production capacities even further. The future-oriented factory with industrial production methods that the company invested in several years ago is now proving to be particularly useful.

Dräger claims to be doing everything in its power to fulfill its social responsibility to provide for society - worldwide. The organisation has recently received major orders from the German Federal Ministry of Health to supply ventilators and monitors, alongside international orders and deliveries of personal protective equipment and ventilators – which are significantly higher than in the previous year. Recently, in one day alone, Dräger shipped over 100 ventilators from Germany to Italy.

The company will ensure its existing technology is functioning optimally, and is co-ordinating closely with authorities in order to be able to continue to provide services under difficult conditions.

Dräger concluded: "I am aware that despite all our efforts we can only partially meet the current demand in the world. And believe me, we would like to do even more. But I can assure you, we do what we can. Our thoughts are with the doctors, nurses and rescue workers who are currently doing a great job for patients and society at large."
