TripleFlex device corrects hip, knee and foot drop

Axiobionics’ Tripleflex device helps with the rehabilitation of patients with paralysed limbs

Axiobionics, a medical device company focused on rehabilitation of patients with physical disabilities, is utilising electrical stimulation and other devices to provide muscle therapy and pain management solutions.

Axiobionics designs products that use the body's natural motion and muscle to its own advantage.

Tripleflex is a new category of devices which impart lift and energy to paralysed limbs to help improve walking in patients with hip, knee and foot drop.

Foot drop is a condition in which the foot does not have proper muscle control to lift the foot from the ground when walking.  Patients with foot drop are prone to tripping and falling and have a very difficult time walking even short distances.

When the entire lower limb is weak, the hip and knee also drop, and the struggle to walk is magnified.

TripleFlex puts energy into a patient's step by flexing the hip, knee and ankle joints to improve the biomechanics of walking.

Philip Muccio, president and founder of Axiobionics, said: "We are delighted that so many patients and therapists have taken to Tripleflex this soon after its release.

“There's a lot of demand for this type of product. We knew that traditional bracing had limitations and that patients wanted something more dynamic.

“We listen to our patients concerns and address them. Tripleflex is a direct result of meeting patient's needs.  It's a new rehab paradigm with so much potential to help people."
