Raumedic research forms polyolefins and silicone elastomer adhesive

by

Researchers at Raumedic have succeeded in combining polyolefins as non-polar thermoplastics with a silicone elastomer to form an adhesive bond called Silefin

This adhesive bond can seal elements or valves to be directly injection-moulded onto the surrounding polyolefin.

The company has said that this enables medical components or pharmaceutical dosing to be simplified and their product safety improved.

It is also possible to produce co-extruded tubing with silicone outer layer that provides pumping characteristics and resilience.

Depending on application and specification Raumedic says it can provide variable layer distribution.

Raumedic will present the results of this research at the Compamed 2015 on November 16 Hall 8A, Booth F28.
