Plastic Ingenuity to highlight sustainable packaging solutions at MD&M West

Plastic Ingenuity, a custom thermoformer in North America, returns to MD&M West to showcase its latest innovations for more sustainable thermoformed packaging within the healthcare, medtech and life sciences sectors, including the implications of advanced recycling techniques.

The number of healthcare plastics produced globally is expected to grow from 32 billion pounds in 2020 to 48 billion pounds by 2025, according to Healthcare Plastics Recycling Council (HPRC). While much of this plastic is being disposed of in landfills or by incineration, McKinsey predicts the share of plastic derived from advanced recycling could grow to 20-40 million metric tons, or 4-8% of the total plastics supply by 2030.

At Plastic Ingenuity booth 2069, featured products will include ready-to-use pharma tubs, long catheter trays, Tritan copolyester trays, automation trays, laser etching capabilities and particulate elimination solutions. Additionally, Julius Mukasa, Plastic Ingenuity’s technical ,anager – Healthcare, will host a class on Thermoform for Healthcare Packaging in the booth on Tuesday 6th February at 8:30 a.m. as part of IoPP’s Fundamentals of Medical Device Packaging course.
