Non-Touch Thermometers are Too Hot to Handle

The US$50 billion thermometric market is heating up as international medical device company ARC move a step closer to introducing their hotly anticipated suite of innovative non-touch thermometers which look set to transform both clinical and consumer markets.

Headquartered in Belfast, Northern Ireland, ARC is driving the technology forward and shaping the future of thermometrics with the launch of four highly accurate, state of the art non-touch thermometers, designed for different target audiences and individual needs.

As well as being highly accurate each thermometer has been designed to be ascetically pleasing and designed with non touch technology so they are non-invasive, meaning an accurate temperature reading can be taken from patients, children and babies who may be resting or sleeping without disturbing them.

ARC’s product range combines simplicity with cutting edge innovation and with the company planning to continually invest in product development to move towards devices for multi-use thermometric monitoring, they hope to push technology boundaries in this market.

“The thermometric market has stood still for many years,” explains Maria Archer, global operations director at ARC. Although there have been incremental changes to some devices there are a lot of "Me2" products out there. At ARC we wanted to look at things differently and look at not only how we could improve the technology but also the look, feel and practicality of thermometers, taking them into multi-use monitoring.”

ARC has recently acquired Brooklands Inc, a Florida, USA-based manufacturer whose product portfolio includes VeraTemp (trademarked) a non-touch thermometer sold in over 22 countries.  In the UK, VeraTemp was awarded the Most Innovative New OTC Product sold by Boots’, one of the UK's largest high street retailers, at the 2013 prestigious OTC awards.

ARC will be showcasing their portfolio of new thermometers at the medical device trade exhibition Medica, taking place in Düsseldorf on November 20-23, 2013. Distributor companies wishing to learn more about ARC’s products can visit the ARC team at the Association of British Healthcare Industries (ABHI) stand G10-1/G25 in hall 16.
