Engel e-mac North American Debut at MD&M Minneapolis

ENGEL North America, member of the ENGEL group, a world leader in the design and manufacture of injection moulding machines and parts-handling automation, will exhibit the new ENGEL e-mac 310/105 US—their latest all-electric solution to demands for the highest possible levels of precision in the manufacture of injection moulded parts.

The new machines are equipped with ENGEL’s proven CC 200 machine controller. With sizes ranging from 55 to 195 US tons, the ENGEL e-mac is fully modular, incredibly efficient and compact—and equipped with all the options necessary to help customers optimize their injection moulding performance. Standard equipment includes SPI robot interface, corepull software and interface, ceramic heaterbands, parallel plasticizing, programmable I/Os, swiveling injection unit and more.

Mould maintenance directly on the machine

The machine will also be equipped with ENGEL flomo—one of the smallest adjustable water manifolds on the market featuring electronic monitoring—with the user interface fully integrated into the ENGEL CC 200 control unit.

For the show, the extremely compact ENGEL flomo manifold has been mounted close to the mould, minimising heat loss. The fully integrated user interface provides permanent electronic monitoring of all cooling circuits, and for show purposes will be monitoring the cold runner manifold (temperature and pressure of return water).

The ENGEL flomo is also available as a stand-alone unit equipped with its own control unit.

Also on display: ENGEL e-factory 2 and e-service.24

ENGEL will also demonstrate some of their latest Customer Support products at MD&M Minneapolis.

The complete modular software solution—ENGEL e-factory 2—has been designed to better improve efficiencies, reduce costs and enhance service. ENGEL e-factory 2 serves as the interface and the communication gateway between injection moulding production and an organization’s network. The software package records detailed data from a facilities injection moulding machines, which means the customer is informed quickly about what‘s happening across their production operation - even when things aren‘t quite running as they should. Now customers can draw conclusions concerning the susceptibility to failure, utilisation and productivity of the machinery and see where to start making further improvements.

Eight production facilities on three continents means the service team of ENGEL e-service.24 are available 24/7. Using a remote connection, the injection moulding machine will request help on its own. That means as soon as an error message appears, ENGEL’s injection moulding specialists can start looking for the cause—before the customer even knows there is an issue. If there is a failure, or for service purposes, the system will automatically inform the qualified personnel and machine operating staff by e-mail. The error or service message can be forwarded directly to the experts at ENGEL as a service request.

Partnering with ENGEL

At MD&M Minneapolis, the ENGEL e-mac 105 US will be producing polystyrene needle holders for safety syringes, running a 5.5 second cycle with a 16-cavity precision mould from mould maker Fostag, based in Stein am Rhein in Switzerland.
