Bag for life: polymer technology for personalised medicine at K 2016

Medical technology group Kiefel will be exhibiting a space-saving table filling module at the K trade show in Düsseldorf, Germany, with a view to accommodating the growing demand for personalised medication.

The demand for customised dosage in liquid pharmaceutical solutions is growing significantly and consistently in both medical practices and hospitals. As a result, flexible, plastic infusion bags are popular in the health care sector due to their material properties and the fact they are easy to handle.

Kiefel claims it has developed a table filling module that fills
and plugs bags semi-automatically, enabling individually prescribed liquid medications and small filling orders to be transacted quickly and easily.

The pharmaceutical industry, laboratories, hospitals or large pharmacies can use this module to fill individual dosage volumes of 50ml or more.

The flexible table filler features high filling accuracy
and automatic retractive suction to prevent dripping. Users can adapt the bag uptake process to their own requirements and observe the process through a viewing window. The fully-integrated and fully-automatic cleaning in place and sterilisation in place systems ensure that production conditions are hygienically flawless, says Kiefel.
