K Show 2016

Starting today and running until 26 October, K 2016 will be presenting the plastic industry’s innovations and world premieres.

This year the show will be running under the theme of “Plastics shape the future” and will be focusing especially on functionality, aesthetics and sustainability of plastics. Throughout the 7 days will be talks, keynote speeches and panel discussions on “Plastics Industry 4.0”, “New Materials”, “Lightweight Design”, “Marine Litter”, “Youth and Education”, “Plastics meet Design” and “Resource Efficiency”.

Each day will begin with a talk by an acknowledged expert and end with a panel discussion. Experts from the fields of science, business and politics will be discussing the economic, social and environmental challenges and solutions.

Also included in the show’s schedule is a demonstration from teams of the CJD school in Königswinter, who will be demonstrating their skills and those of their robots in the Rescue and Soccer disciplines. The trade fair showings will be rounded off by the film “Plastics shape the future” by Udo Tschimmel.

A host of companies will be demonstrating products at K 2016.

Creative industrial group Evonik will be presenting its multipolymer compound Cyrolite.

Multipolymer compounds are the world’s most advanced PMMA-based polymers for medical devices. They can be sterilised with gamma rays, e-beam, and EtO gas, are resistant to alcohol and lipids and have good impact resistance, transparency, and translucency properties.

Polymers used in hospitals for disposable items such as medical filters and device housing must fulfil high quality and safety requirements. Evonik has marketed Cyrolite especially for medical and diagnostic applications.

Leader in specialty chemicals, Clariant will introduce new liquid colour additives for medical devices and pharma packaging. The new products were debuted at CPhI earlier this year and aim to combine the benefits of the company’s previous formulation, along with the manufacturing approach with Clariant’s Hi Former liquid-vehicle technology.

Styrenics company, INEOS Styrolution will present its product highlights Styrolux and the Novodur development grade.

Styrolux aims to offer high performance rations and cost effectiveness, making it attractive to the healthcare industry. Its applications range from IV bags to drip chambers, lab-ware and drainage containers.

Its Novodur development grade is characterised by improved clinical resistance against hospital cleaners. This improvement could benefit the environmental stress cracking resistance when exposed to state of the art cleaners and disinfectants.
