Irish medtech company becomes official NHS supplier

HealthBeacon will be able to directly access the UK healthcare market after being named as an official supplier to the National Health Service (NHS).

The organisation has developed an injection care management system for patients that self-administer injectable medication in their homes. It’s flagship product is a smart sharps bin which is digitally connected to the patient’s smartphone. The device can be used to dispose of the injector pens and syringes, as well as to track the patient’s adherence to their regime.

Jim Joyce, co-founder and chief executive of HealthBeacon, commented: “Getting approval really opens up the market for us because clinicians in the UK can now enter a buyer process to use our tools, which is something many already wanted to do but were restricted from being able to do so.”

The company, which was founded in 2013, currently has its technology available in 13 countries.
