Pharmapack a main driver for innovation

Innovation is driving the drug delivery and packaging industries following a record year for FDA approvals, according to the organisers of Pharmapack Europe.

The tradeshow – which is set to run between 6-7 February next year in Paris – acts as one of the main drivers in helping introduce new products to the market. This is achieved mainly through the show’s Pharampack Awards and Start-up Hub, both of which attract a range of companies bringing their latest advancements to market.

Speaking about the strides within drug delivery and packaging, Silvia Forroova, event director Pharmapack, said: “In the last year we have seen a tremendous proliferation of industry innovation, not just in terms of the FDA approvals, but at our event we are now seeing increasing novel technologies launching and newer market entrants explore patient friendly and ecological solutions. It’s a hugely exciting time and our Start-up Hub has been specifically designed as a low-cost solution to bring these break-through companies to a wider audience. Such is the surge in demand, our expert panel have the unenviable task of selecting only the most innovative entries. Additionally, this year we have also partnered with HCPC Europe and Adelphe for the Pharmapack Awards to increase its global prominence and encourage the widest possible spread of innovators to take part.”

Entries for the 2019 Pharmapack Awards are now open across the event’s ‘Exhibitor Innovation’ and ‘Health Products’ categories. Entrants have until 30 November to apply, with the winners being announced live on the first evening of Pharmapack (6 February 2019.)

The Health Products category will include two winners with one for ‘Patient-Centric Design’ and a second for ‘Eco-design’ in health packaging and drug delivery devices. Companies applying to the Health Products category must have a product that has been commercially launched after 1 January 2018.

The patient centricity award will be evaluated on the basis of how a pharmaceutical packaging, veterinary packaging or drug delivery system improves patients’ lives. Examples include, products that help patients take the right dose of medicine and improve long-term adherence, as well as features that help patients live within their normal lifestyle.

Exhibitors that are joining the show’s Innovation Gallery will be judged for the Exhibitor Innovation award. The category allows entrants to present the latest innovative solutions, including those not yet available on the market.

The Innovation Gallery is open to attendees at Pharmapack, who can explore the Exhibitor Innovation finalists and take part in guided Innovation Tours which provide a snapshot of some of the most impressive technological breakthroughs.

Lastly, the Start-up Hub is set to return, providing start-up companies within pharma valuable networking and learning opportunities.
