Innovation firms hails success of Nordic life sciences accelerator

NHS Innovation firm Trustech has seen its ‘HealthTech Nordic’ programme, run in collaboration with Sweden’s Innovation Skåne, attract healthtech startups and SME’s from countries across the Nordic region – including Norway, Sweden and Denmark.

Trustech developed and hosted the two-day programme designed to provide market advantage to Nordic start-ups and SMEs with aspirations to enter the UK healthcare market. It attracted healthtech companies including robotics, digital apps, software solutions, and other healthcare products.

There were seminars and workshops to enable delegates to gain access to networks, strategic knowledge and market opportunities. It provided an insight into the UK healthcare landscape and market opportunities from industry experts, covering topics such as: national, local and specialised commissioning; NHS supply chain, tariffs and innovation payments; how to develop an NHS healthcare business case; and how to deliver the perfect pitch.

Following the success of the inaugural programme, Trustech aims to host similar events.

Raj Purewal, business development and partnerships director at Trustech said: “Sharing best practice, knowledge and learning with other countries is essential in order to improve NHS services and attract the latest innovations from across the world.

"Entering the NHS sector from overseas is extremely difficult – not just because it is a highly regulated sector, but because innovations must have a strong business case for the UK health service. Many SMEs find this challenging, and Trustech’s HealthTech Nordic has brought much needed support in this area; feedback has been incredibly encouraging and confirms that an event of this type is crucial to healthcare innovation in the UK and beyond.”
