Innovate UK promotes 2nd round of life science funding

Science and technology partnering organisation, Innovate UK, is investing up to £15 million in projects that address technical or commercial challenges in health and life sciences.

UK-based businesses of any size, working on projects in the health and life sciences sector, can apply for grants offered by Innovate UK. Research and technology organisations (RTOs) may also be considered under certain circumstances.

Innovate UK hope that the funding increase competitiveness for UK small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Innovate UK state that SME led projects are also welcomes and can individually apply for funding up to £100,000.

This is the second round of funding offered to help stimulate innovation in health and life sciences. Applicants’ projects must align with at least one area relating to:

Proposals must highlight how projects will enable a step change in competitiveness and productivity for at least one UK SME involved in the project.

The two options for applications to the competition include:

  1. £5 million for 6 months- 1 year projects with total project costs from £50,000 – £100,000.
  1. £10 million for 1 – 3 year projects with total project costs from £100,000 – £2 million.
