IK named association of the year 2020

The IK Industrievereinigung Kunststoffverpackungen has been named Association of the Year 2020 in the Representation of Interests and Communication’ category at the DGVM Innovation Awards.

The German Association for Association Management (DGVM) announced the winning teams on the occasion of the Association Congress at the beginning of September in Berlin. DGVM President Peter Hahn particularly praised the fact-based positioning of the IK in a politically and media-demanding environment.

IK MD Mara Hancker said: "The fact that we can represent the interests of our industry credibly and with passion finds its justification and substance in the products and the commitment of IK members. Challenges are named and tackled, one's own achievements are not hidden, and concrete initiatives are taken to strengthen the circular economy."

The IK sees the award as an appreciation of a strategic team effort that extends far beyond the boundaries of the association house. Hancker added: “We will stay on course, remain constructively controversial, continue to learn and stand up for plastic packaging and the industry behind it.”

The DGVM Innovation Award has been given to associations and organisations for outstanding performance in association management since 1997. Due the Coronavirus pandemic, the associations had to be patient since the nomination in January for the awards to be distributed in September.
