GW Plastics increases multi-shot moulding capabilities

by

Contract manufacturer GW Plastics has announced it has increased its multi-shot moulding capabilities at MD&M East.

The company has purchased a number of new automated multi-shot machines which will be installed over summer. The new machines bring a higher level of automation and are the first machines to have an assembly cell directly integrated into the press. This allows parts to be picked and placed by robots right into assembly and secondary operations.

Multi-shot moulding allows healthcare companies to improve ergonomics and performance for their medical devices. Multi-shot moulding also offers cost effective, lean manufacturing practices as it eliminates entire moulding machines in the moulding process.

Timothy Reis, GW Plastics VP of Healthcare Business Development said: “GW Plastics has worked closely with our customers to introduce innovative and cost-effective advanced manufacturing solutions, such as multi-shot moulding. We have significantly expanded our multi-shot business in the medical device field for improved ergonomics and economics.”

Brenan Riehl, President and CEO of GW Plastics said: “GW Plastics has enjoyed ongoing year-over-year record revenue, and we are committed to supporting this growth by investing in our facilities. We are proud to be a leader in moulding and tooling technology and be able to offer our customers innovative, advanced manufacturing solutions.”
