GlaxoSmithKline and Baxter Feature in Line Up at E&L Europe

Extractables and Leachables (E&L Europe) conference full agenda for 2013 has been revealed. The conference will feature a two day speaker programme covering analytical advances in E&Ls and best practises from the materials, toxicologist and pharmaceutical company perspectives, plus poster sessions and extended networking opportunities.

Last year's E&L Europe saw a record attendance of delegates: pharmaceutical manufacturers, medical device manufacturers, packaging and materials suppliers to CROs, government and academia. London's event is already on track to deliver an even greater attended conference.

E&L Europe 2013 will cover the latest developments from industry practitioners and working groups to meet regulatory requirements and ensure compatibility in drug-package combinations. Speakers include: Dr Mike Hodgson from GlaxoSmithKline, Thilde Marboe from Ferring Pharmaceuticals, Dr Reinhard Stidl from Baxter Innovations and more.

Dr James Stern of Borealis will provide a unique perspective on how a polymer producer can support the Healthcare industry, he sees great value in the E&L events and comments "The industry needs to understand what is possible and what is not possible and that can only be done if we have this type of forum to discuss the challenges and opportunities. We are all experts in our areas and by sharing that information realistic expectation levels can be achieved."

This is a key aim of Smithers Rapra's conferences, bringing together various stakeholders regarding how to address the key issues related to E&Ls for all drug product types and medical devices, in order to ensure safety in the industry. Helping to foster this communication, Dr Dennis Jenke from Baxter Healthcare, will deliver an exclusive update to all attendees, following his attendance at the USP forum, on the evolving USP standards for the characterisation and chemical safety assessment of plastics used in pharmaceutical applications.

Further highlights include case studies from Waters Corporation, Gerresheimer and the BioPhorum Operations Group on SUS components, elemental impurities and COP materials. New for 2013 is the poster session, allowing attendees to hear more about recent research and findings relating to all areas of E&Ls.

An early bird ticket offer ends this week. Readers of Medical Plastics News can benefit from a special 10% discount, which can be used off this early bird rate by quoting MP10AD when registering online.
