Gerresheimer opens new plant in India

Gerresheimer, a supplier to the healthcare industry, has announced plans to increase production capacity for plastic containers by opening a new plant in India.

The organisation, which has had a presence within India for many years, is now opening a second production site in the city of Kosamba. This site will aim to ensure there is the production capacity to cope with the high demand for the Triveni round containers.

Niels Düring, global executive vice president, Gerresheimer Plastic Packaging said during the official opening of the new plant in Kosamba: “Today marks the start of a new chapter in the success story of Gerresheimer and Triveni. We acquired a majority stake in the company on December 18th, 2012 and now, seven years later, we are opening a new production site to boost our capacity.”

Düring went on to mention how with the second site up and running and the warehouses available in Hyderabad, it will be possible to significantly reduce the time it takes to deliver products to customers, enhance supply performance, cover a wider area, and ensure business continuity. Production of Triveni round containers is due to begin in class 8 and class 9 cleanrooms at the end of the year.

The welcoming speech was followed by a presentation of the plant by Jari Tevajarvi, vice president Asia Plastic Packaging, and Prakash Dhameja, plant manager.

International guests were invited to attend the official opening ceremony which took place on December 16th on the site’s premises in Kosamba, in the district of Surat.
