Medical staff are faced with pressure and time constraints to work more efficiently and various factors can contribute to mistake being made when using medical products. Regarding this, usability and engineering are playing a key role in the development process.

Gerresheimer are complying with the FDA’s audits on stronger usability, training usability engineers to work with its customers to incorporate usability considerations at an early stage of the product development process.

The engineers analyse users and use context and products that are already available in the market, interview experts, conduct user tests, draw up interaction specifications and perform many other activities.

The end of the product development process leaves a medical device that is geared to patient requirements and is user friendly, intuitive and safe and can also be mass manufactured.
