Gerresheimer and Sensile to present drug delivery products at CPhI

Gerresheimer is set to present its position as an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) for drug delivery platforms at CPhI Worldwide later this year.

Earlier this year, Gerresheimer acquired Swiss technology company Sensile Medical in a bid to expand its business model, enabling it to manufacture drug delivery platforms with digital and electronic capabilities. Now, the two companies will exhibit at CPhI Worldwide in Madrid, together for the first time.

Sandra de Haan, chief business officer at Sensile, said: “Pooling Gerresheimer’s and Sensile Medical’s expertise is an ideal move for any of our customers looking for innovation.”

Involved with pharma companies in the early stages of drug and therapy development, Sensile is to become Gerresheimer’s Development Division, focusing on the field of innovative devices for the company. Sensile has already begun working on projects with customers to develop devices for diabetics and patients with heart disease.

Recently, Sensile Medical has developed a new kind of micro pump to provide a very precise dosage of drug. The company’s SenseCore is small and inexpensive to manufacture as it’s only made out of two plastic parts.

Gerresheimer will be presenting SenseCore and other Sensile Medical products at CPhI Worldwide from 9-11 October at booth 4C30.
