Event: Structuring of polymers by processing for medical applications

by

The ‘Structuring of polymers by processing for medical applications’ event will take place on 16 December at the University of Sheffield, UK as part of the MeDe innovation Guest Lecture series 2015

‘Structuring of polymers by processing for medical applications’ will be led by Phil Coates, professor of polymer engineering and director, interdisciplinary research centre in polymer science and technology at the University of Bradford.

Coates will discuss opportunities to manipulate the structure and final properties of polymers and polymer composites via the manufacturing processing steps, including precision micromoulding and solid phase orientation processing of polymers for use in a range of medical devices.

Coates is working with colleagues across MeDe Innovation to address challenges in manufacturing personalised implants: developing techniques to allow both cells and biomaterials to be processed together, while still retaining their mechanical and biological properties under the environments imposed in many manufacturing techniques.

The event will include both lectures and lab tours, to register for the event click here.
